What is PON?
To know CEx WDM, firstly learn about PON.PON(Passive Optical network), a point to mulitpoint passive optical fiber access technology, consists of OLT(Optical Line Terminal), ODN(Optical Distribution Network) and ONU(Optical Network Unit). And PLC is an important optical passive component of ODN. With the continuous development of PON technology, now there are many kinds of PON technologies like EPON, GPON, XG-PON and so on.
Advantages of PON
As pure media network, PON can avoid electromagnetic interference and lightning of external equipment,reduce the failure rate of lines and external equipment, improve system reliability and save costs.
Introduction of CEx WDM
PON technology is constantly developing. However, the original system cannot be abandoned, it's necessary to realize the coexistence of PON system and make it upgrape. Then CEx WDM was designed to achieve this aim.
